Just finished Tekken the movie about half an hour ago. I don't put high hope on it as most game based movie turned out to be below par. Well, my guess was correct. Tekken the movie is very disappointing. Possibly some spoilers alert.
The storyline is basically Jin Kazama(Jon Foo) entering the Tekken tournament to avenge her mother dead. The summary is like Jin entered the tournament, fight, run, fight again, run even more, fight, kill, and then end of story. So for starter, there are a lot of popular characters not in the movie. No Paul Phoenix, no King, no Armor King, no Jack, no Hworang but character like Miguel Rojo is in the movie. Thumbs down.
The movie and the game have two different storyline. In the game, Christie Monteiro(Kelly Overton) is the student of Eddie Gordo(Lateef Crowder) In the movie, they are not related at all. In the game, Christie and Jin are not link in anyway, but in the movie they are somehow romantically link to each other. Nina and Anna Williams (Candice Hillebrand & Marian Zapico) apparently work for Kazuya(Ian Anthony Dale) in the movie. The list goes on and on.
Guess who is this? Kazuya... NO physical resemblance at all...
I guess the most disappointing part is the fighter's move. In the movie, none of the character's signature move are shown. The only exception is Eddie showing some of his Capoeira skills, but that's all. Come on, Kazuya, Jin and Bryan Futy(Gary Daniels) even fight with weapons... Such a huge difference compare to the game's character.
Catch it if you are a die hard Tekken fan, but don't expect it to be decent. There goes another game based movie goes bad...
